2010 Schomberg Fair Ambassador

It comes as no surprise that our 2010 fair was a wonderful success, especially when we consider the incredible amount of long hours and work that our volunteers contribute to it. I have thoroughly enjoyed representing our Fair over the past year, and although somewhat sad, I am also very excited to pass the crown on to the next young person who gets to experience this amazing opportunity.
The Ambassador’s role in a community is to promote the importance of agriculture in our everyday lives and it is in our particular area that this role is most crucial considering our urban neighbours.
Being Ambassador allowed me the honour of representing Schomberg at many different events such as the Alliston Potato Festival, the Bolton, Caledon and Orangeville Fairs, the OAAS District 5 meeting and Ontario Fairs Convention, Remembrance Day and Main Street Christmas. I have met many amazing people and made many wonderful memories that I will take with me as I move through life. The ambassador competition is a wonderful opportunity for any young person, and it is an experience that should not be overlooked or taken for granted.
I would like to thank everyone who made this experience possible for me. I have had an amazing year and am looking forward to the CNE Ambassador of the Fairs competition in August and of course our own Schomberg Agricultural Fair in May. I encourage any young person who is interested in this life changing opportunity to run in our 2011 Ambassador competition and do their part in the growth and development of our already wonderful community.
 Have Fun!
