Homecraft Rules & Regulations

  1. All entries must be the work of AMATEURS. An amateur is one who engages in a craft as a pastime hobby and not as a licensed professional.
  2. Exhibitors fee of $5.00 must be paid on or before making entries. Fee entitles exhibitors to show as many items as desired.
  3. Exhibitors at the Community Hall do not need to enter the Fair Ground gates and pay admission to submit their entries. Generally, the gates are not open at the times Exhibitors may bring their entries to the Community Hall. For pickup Sunday, exhibits may not be removed until 4:30 pm, and Exhibitors would not need to pay gate admission to come into the Hall at that time.  Exhibitors who wish to go to the Fair Grounds must pay the regular gate admission.
  4. NOTE: The Community Hall will be closed to the public at 4:00 p.m. to allow the Committee members to sort and prepare entries for pick up and will re-open at 4:30 for the exhibitors to pick up their entries.
  5. Exhibits may be brought to the Schomberg Community Hall on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m., or on Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  They will remain in place until 4:30 p.m. Sunday evening.
  6. A brief presentation will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the Community Hall to present Championship trophies and other special Awards.
  7. Prize money allotment, in all cases, is subject to change to utilize any donations of merchandise received & may be picked up on Sunday after 2 p.m. along with any merchandise prize won from the Homecraft Office at the Schomberg Community Hall. Prize money in the amount of over $10.00 will be paid by Cheque.  If the Exhibitor is a Junior, prize money will be paid in cash
  8. The Schomberg Agricultural Society is not responsible for any loss or breakage of any exhibit. Great care will be executed in the handling of the exhibits and the overnight caretaking of the premises is guaranteed.
  9. Please have articles properly marked to correspond with the prize list, with a Schomberg entry ticket attached to each entry. Please have proper tags ready for dropping off with each entry. Printable tags will be available on the website at www.schombergfair.com.
  10. Entries must be listed on the Entry Form also found on the website, which must be left with the registration secretary at the time of entry. For tags and additional entry forms, please contact Chris Somerville, Chair of Homecraft, 905-939-7795.  An individual exhibitor may only enter one article in each section in all classes, except where otherwise stated, and may only receive one prize per section.  A Junior exhibitor may be up to and including the age of 17. Junior exhibitors shall not pay entry fees in Sections and Classes marked for “Junior exhibitors Only” but shall pay the regular exhibitors fee if entering adult classes.
  11. All exhibits must be handcrafted by the exhibitor and may only be exhibited by the maker. Crafts exhibited must be neat, clean and odour-free.  Items do not have to be new.  Items may be shown only once, except where otherwise stated.
  12. Point System used to decide winners will be:
    First: 3 Points, Second: 2 Points, 3rd: 1 Point.
    Placing in Specials does not count in the Point System.
  13. Notice to Prize Winners: All prize cheques must be cashed before the end of September in the year of the Fair.
